Programme and agenda
26-28 October 2023, Konya
Dear members,
We are pleased to share with you some up-dates on the next World Council, taking place in Konya on 26-28 October 2023, under the theme “Envisioning the Future”.
Programme and agendas
You can already consult the general programme of the World Council, although a few up-dates are to be expected.
The statutory track will be organized as follows:
- Meeting of the Financial Management Committee, by invitation only, 26 October
- Meeting of the Committee on Statutory Affairs, by invitation only, 26 October
- Meeting of the Standing Committee on Gender Equality, 26 October
- Business session of the Executive Bureau, held in a hybrid format, 27 October
- Business session of the World Council, held in a hybrid format, 27 October
Several Policy debates will be celebrated under the auspices of the Policy Councils, whose renewal will be formalized at the World Council:
- Right to the City: Reclaiming the Commons, 26 October
- Opportunities for All: Redefining Finance and Economies of Equality, 26 October
- Multilevel Governance: Regaining Trust, 27 October
- Resilient and Regenerative Territories: Renaturing, 28 October
- Local Multilateralism and City Diplomacy: Linking the Local to the Global, 28 October
Registration
As is usually the case, we invite each and every member of your delegation to confirm attendance to the World Council, be it in-person or online. You can fill in the registration form by 20 October 2023.
Logistical information
MEETING VENUE
The meetings of the World Council will all be celebrated at Selçuklu Congress Centre (Horozluhan, Yeni İstanbul Cd. No: 62/1, 42110 Selçuklu/Konya)
HOTELS
Our hosts in Konya have selected three hotels for participants. Please note that early bird rates will be applied until 30 September. You can already book your accommodation according to the following instructions:
- Dedeman Hotel (90€ single room / 110€ double room)
You can book a room via the following link and the negotiated rate will automatically apply. Alternatively, you can visit the hotel website and enter the code “UCLGKONYA” when proceeding to booking.
- Ramada Hotel (90€ single room / 120€ double room)
You can book a room by writing directly to sales@ramadaplazakonya.com, indicating “UCLGKONYA” in the subject of your email.
- Bayir Diamond Hotel (90€ single room / 110€ double room)
You can book a room by writing directly to emre.cetinkaya@bayirhotels.com, indicating “UCLGKONYA” in the subject of your email.
Please note that all prices indicated above include the early bird special rate. As from 1 October, the prices applied will be increased by 10-30€.
We also inform you that triple rooms are available in the three hotels.
VISA
For those participants who might need a visa to enter Türkiye, we inform you that you can fill in the form prepared by our hosts and send it, along with a copy of your passport, to ali.guner@konya.bel.tr ; sadullah.kutlu@konya.bel.tr, copying UCLGExBu@uclg.org.
TRANSPORT
We are also pleased to inform that our hosts in Konya will organize shuttles between the airport and the three hotels listed above, as well as between the hotels and the meeting venue. The timetables will be finalized according to flight times, as the meeting approaches.
UCLGMeets
We will open the space dedicated to the World Council on UCLGMeets in the coming weeks. As is now traditional, you will be able to find there the interactive programme, the useful resources to prepare for the meetings, and a few weeks before the Council, the background documents and Zoom connection links for the hybrid meetings.
