UCLG Statement to CSW64

Dear members,

As previously informed, most side and parallel events organized by the different organized constituencies, in the context of the 64th session of the Committee for the Condition of Women (CSW64), were cancelled. However, our Organization will continue to ensure that key messages of local and regional governments on gender equality are made known and heard on the international stage, mainly via the two actions described below.

1 - UCLG Statement to CSW64

UCLG has prepared a Statement of Local and Regional Governments to CSW64, structured around the key messages and priorities of the constituency to each of the Generation Equality Action Coalitions.

This statement is the result of several months of co-creation: from the Durban UCLG Congress to CSW64, and with a participatory approach involving UCLG regional sections and membership, as well as experts and other relevant stakeholder contributions.

It will be publicly disseminated to the international community and CSW64 stakeholders later on today (Monday 9 March) in order to take part to the global conversation on equality.

[We remind you that the CSW held a reduced, procedural meeting today, with New York-based delegations only]

2 - Gender Week

In order to keep momentum and showcase UCLG’s commitment to gender equality, the World Secretariat is organizing a Gender Week in its headquarters, mobilizing driving forces of the network in order to propose a series of relevant workshops. You will find the programme via the links below.

If you wish to make your voices heard and stand for gender equality from the local and regional perspective, join the campaign and follow our exchanges with the hashtags #GenerationEquality, #CSW64 y #Listen2Cities!
