Dear members,
We are pleased to invite the members of the UCLG Standing Committee on Gender Equality and of UCLG Women to participate in a
working session on gender equality in local government in Paris on 3
rd July 2019, taking advantage of the presence of part of our membership in the meetings on international action organized by Cités Unies France.
This special session will be the opportunity to exchange on the All-UCLG gender equality strategy, which is being developed around two main pillars: an institutional pillar, aiming at developing gender mainstreaming and promoting gender equality activities within our network and among its different areas; and a political pillar, aiming at raising the participation of women in governing and decision-making bodies at the local level.
We will also be able to brainstorm about the coming UCLG World Congress, organized in Durban (South Africa) on 11-15 November 2019. Gender equality will be placed at the very core of the debates and structure of this important event.
Please click on the following link to access the
agenda of the session.
We also hope this session can contribute to the work developed towards the Charter of local governments for gender equality in Africa with REFELA-UCLG Africa and CEMR.
Since there is limited space, we would be grateful if you could confirm your availability at your earliest convenience at
women@uclg.org. Carole Morillon and Sarah Vieux remain available for any assistance you might need.
We hope to welcome you in Paris soon!
