Survey on SDG Localization: LRG Report to the HLPF 2019
Dear members,
As you know, since 2016, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is reporting every year, on behalf of the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, to the High Level Political Forum of the United Nations on
the role of local and regional governments in the localization of the SDGs. The next report will be presented in July 2019.
These reports are only possible thanks to the support of our members and all the information and knowledge they can share about their contribution to the implementation of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
We kindly invite our regional sections, the national associations of local and regional governments and all our members, local governments and regions to answer the Survey on SDG Localization. You may either
download the survey or
complete it online.
For our European members only: The UCLG World Secretariat, together with the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) and PLATFORMA, has developed a survey specially designed for European members. This survey will be distributed by CEMR and PLATFORMA to all their members, but you can access it through the following links: you may either
download the survey or
complete it online. Please make sure, of course, you only answer the Survey once.
For our Asia-Pacific members only: the UCLG-ASPAC regional section will also circulate the SDG Localization Survey via their own circular. Please make sure, of course, you only answer the SDG Localization Survey once.
This call is especially important for the
local governments, and their national associations, from the 51 countries that have committed to submit their national reviews to the 2019 HLPF. A full list of countries by region is available below. Of course, feedback from any countries will be most appreciated, and will help us prepare a more comprehensive report.
The 2019 HLPF is going to be particularly important since it will close the first four-year assessment cycle of the SDGs. Convening under the theme “Empowering People and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”, it will focus its assessment on SDG 4 (education), 8 (decent work and economic growth), 10 (reduced inequalities), 13 (climate action) and 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions).
All information, stories, experiences and practices from local and regional governments are essential to build a reliable and effective report that captures the value of LRGs’ contributions to the SDG localization process.
UCLG looks forward to your contributions and support to this initiative. We will appreciate it if you could
send the filled-in survey back to UCLG before April 15, 2019, to the following address:
gold@uclg.org.
Sincerely,
The UCLG World Secretariat
