Circular 7/2018 Barcelona, 12 March 2018 To the members of the World Council To the Secretaries General To the Vice-Presidents of United Cities and Local Governments To the Presidents of UCLG Committees and Working Groups For information: To the Presidency Participate in a survey on accessible cities Dear members of the World Council, Under your leadership, UCLG is determined to achieve inclusion, justice and equal opportunities for all in cities, local and regional governments. In the framework of our work around the implementation of the Right to the City, UCLG is embarking on a partnership with World Enabled to foster inclusive and accessible cities, by promoting the rights of people with disabilities in our cities and territories. The global growth of information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives creates unprecedented pathways for cities to improve quality of life. The incorporation of ICT accessibility and digital inclusion into development efforts represents a shared opportunity to extend these benefits to all citizens, including people with disabilities and older populations. We invite our members to participate in and help distribute a global survey to assess digital inclusion in smart city and digital transformation initiatives. Please click here to take the 10-minute online survey. Findings from the survey will be used to assess the contributions of cities to the achievement of the SDGs within our overall strategy towards the United Nations, as well as to develop tools and resources that are needed to promote more equitable outcomes for persons with disabilities and older persons. We will keep you informed about the developments of the study and remain at your disposal for any additional information you might require. Sincerely, The UCLG World Secretariat
