6th UCLG Culture Summit
Call for the host city: Deadline 12 April
Dear members,
The Culture Summit has become a major event for UCLG. After the success of the Summits previously held (Bilbao in 2015; Jeju in 2017; Buenos Aires in 2019; Izmir in 2021; and Dublin in 2023), and considering the growing importance of culture in the framework of sustainable cities, UCLG has decided to convene a 6th Culture Summit in 2025.
The UCLG Culture Summit is a unique global event. It responds to the growing importance of culture in local development, a fact that is being evidenced in all continents at least since the beginning of the 21st century. It is the meeting point of cities, local and regional governments, national governments, civil society organizations and international organizations to discuss the current position of culture in the global Agendas.
The Summit will respond to the growing importance granted to culture by international organizations and frameworks, and it will also consider the implementation of the outcomes of the 7th UCLG World Congress (Daejeon, 10-14 October 2022), especially the UCLG Pact for the Future – Daejeon Declaration. Participants to the Summit are very committed to the successful implementation of policies and programmes on culture and sustainability. The Summit sends very strong messages on the role of culture in development. The programme of the Summit will emphasize that culture is an integral part of sustainable cities, and will promote the sharing of experiences and innovations from cities across the world.
We invite you to check the Terms of Reference of the 6th UCLG Culture Summit. Candidates are invited to send a letter of interest to host the UCLG Culture Summit in 2025 before 12 April 2024 to the UCLG World Secretariat: UCLGExBu@uclg.org, putting in copy: culture@uclg.org.
