Help us highlight local and regional contributions to the SDGs:
Contribute to the GOLD V Report

Dear members
,

The delegation of local and regional governments at the 2018 High-Level Political Forum (New York, July 9-18) presented the 2nd Report of Local and Regional Governments to the HLPF, Towards the Localization of the SDGs. The report was received very positively, and it is now available online. Without the contributions that we received from many of you, this outcome would have been unattainable.

UCLG is already looking forward to the next step. We are already working at full throttle on the GOLD V Report, which will be presented at the 2019 HLPF and at the UCLG World Congress in Autumn 2019. GOLD V will explore the current situation of local and regional governments worldwide, and their involvement in the localization of the global agendas. To do so, we need your help and support.

What information can our members provide?

We will build an extensive catalogue of case studies and practices on the implementation of the global goals at local and regional levels. Your city, your region, your association, your knowledge and expertise in this field will all be essential to complete this task.

At this stage of the process, we need any information on local and regional governments that are promoting innovative practices and initiatives conceived in the framework of the SDGs and the global agendas (Paris Agreements on Climate Change, the New Urban Agenda and the Sendai Framework for Risk Prevention) that aim to contribute to the achievement of the goals, even if they are not expressly labelled or linked to them.

How can you share this information?

Attached to this e-mail you will find a simple template to collect and list valuable examples and relevant cases. With a few sentences, you can easily describe your initiative or other initiatives in your country, to highlight the engagement of local and regional governments in the implementation of a sustainable development path. You can submit all information to gold@uclg.org.

When should the information be shared?

As soon as possible. Your knowledge and support will be essential to complement the report by providing valuable case studies and initiatives to be explored more in-depth. We will work on preliminary drafts by early October 2018, so we invite you to send any useful information on relevant cases and experiences throughout September.

Nevertheless, you can always share any cases or known experiences with us at any time. We will be collecting information until at least February 2019, when we will revise al the regional reports and move toward the finalization of the global report.

We really look forward to your feedback and contributions, and remain at your disposal should you need any further information or details about this process.

Thank you in advance for your help and consideration.

Sincerely,

The UCLG World Secretariat
