클로버 무어 시드니시장은 오늘 시드니시는

greenhouse gas(이산화탄소)배출을 감소시키기

위해서 에너지고효율전구무료로 배포하기로

했다고 발표했다.

많은 호주인들은 전기의 90%이상이 석탄을 태워서

생성된다는 것을 인식하지 못하고 있으며, 이 과정을

통해서 greenhouse gas(이산화탄소)가 발생한다는

것도 모르고 있다고 한다.

이 greenhouse gas는 결과적으로 지구온난화와

기후변동을 영향을 미치게 되며, 일반가정이 호주전체

greenhouse gas발생분의 20%를 배출하고 있어, 일반

가정도 환경보전에 큰 역할을 할 수 있다.

시드니시는 에너지공급절약청 (LESS:Low Energy

Supplies and Services)과 공동시책으로

약 18달러가치의 가구당 5개들이 에너지고효율전구를

무료로 배포할 계획이다.

시는 또한 식사가정배달서비스이용자에게 부드러운

백색광선방출 15와트전구도 무료배포한다.

이 각 전구는 75와트형광등에 상당한다고 한다.

이러한 에너지고효율전구는 약 240달 절약효과를

보이며, 수명도 일반전구의 8배에 이른다고 한다.

City offer free energy

Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP today announced City of Sydney residents are being offered a free set of energy efficient light bulbs to help the battle to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"Many Australians aren't aware that more than 90 per cent of their electricity is generated by burning coal, which creates greenhouse gas, which in turn contributes to global warming and climate change," Ms Moore said.

"Households across the nation generate almost one-fifth of Australia's total greenhouse gases through everyday activities. That's approximately 15 tonnes per household, a high figure considering one tonne would fill a family home.

"The free provision of the energy efficient globes will help reduce global warming and will avoid approximately 35,000 light bulb changes of the standard kind.

"For Meal on Wheels participants, this initiative also offers free installation," Ms Moore said.

In a joint initiative with Low Energy Supplies and Services (LESS), the City is giving away boxes of five globes - each worth $18 - for a limited period.

The City is also offering to fit the 15 watt bulbs, which emit a soft white light, free of charge to Meals on Wheels recipients within the local government area. Each globe is equivalent to a 75 watt incandescent globe.

The energy efficient globes will provide each participating household with a saving of about $240 over the lifetime of the bulbs. They last eight times longer than regular globes.

According to LESS, 2,000 boxes of the bayonet or screw-in bulbs will potentially help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 4,800 tonnes, the equivalent of around 1,066 less cars on the road.

People wanting to take-up the offer can obtain their free box of globes by calling into either a City of Sydney One Stop Shop or Community or Activity Centre and filling out a declaration form.
