Dear members of the Executive Bureau,
 
This briefing includes up-dated information on the SDG Summit during the high-level week, and the Local and Regional Governments’ Forum.
 
UNGA high-level week

The 74th session of the UN General Assembly will open on 17 September 2019, and the high-level week will take place the week after: from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th. A number of high-level meetings will be held during this week:
  

Monday, 23/09 Tuesday, 24/09 Wednesday, 25/09 Thursday, 26/09 Friday, 27/09
UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit
 
UNGA’s High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage		 Opening of the UNGA General Debate
 
SDG Summit		 SDG Summit High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development SAMOA Pathway Mid-Term Review













 
Please note that a separate briefing will be provided on the UNSG Climate Action Summit.
 
Important issues for consideration of the delegation:

  • Speaking slots available for the constituency are very limited: local and regional governments have been allocated one slot in the official sessions of the SDG Summit. Preference will be given to women from the Global South.
  • The Local and Regional Governments’ Forum is confirmed during the high-level week. The exact date and time is expected to be defined by mid-August. 
  • Accreditations are limited. UN Grounds Passes will not grant access to the UN Headquarters. Specific tickets will be issued by the UN. In the case of the official segment and the Leaders Dialogues, access will solely be granted to speakers. Registration for the SDG Summit is not open yet.
  • Expression of commitments for acceleration of SDG action are a priority for the UN. We strongly encourage you to submit your acceleration commitments prior to nominating speakers (see information below) to increase your visibility.
