URGENT: Reminder about the SDG Localization Survey

LRG Report to the HLPF 2018

Dear members of the World Council,

On 5 March 2018, we circulated a survey designed to cover the key dimensions of SDG localization and emphasize the role that local and regional governments are playing in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals to members of the World Council.

We take this opportunity to kindly remind you that the deadline for the submission of the completed survey is 30 April 2018. Should you have encountered any difficulty in receiving the survey through the UCLG Circular, you will find a copy attached to this e-mail.

OUR EUROPEAN MEMBERS, please be aware that you should reply ONLY to the survey designed and distributed by CEMR-CCRE and Platforma, not UCLG's. Both surveys share the same methodology and rationale, and will be fully compatible with the input and results obtained from the other regional sections.

As mentioned in the Circular (No. 5/2018), in July 2018, UCLG and the Global Taskforce will present the second edition of the local and regional governments' report on the Localization of the SDGs to the United Nations' High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). This year's report will be particularly important for our constituency, since the 2018 HLPF will assess, among others, SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities. We believe that this assessment can be extremely valuable in providing local and regional governments with the visibility and centrality that their actions, initiatives and efforts need and deserve.

In order to collect as much knowledge and information as possible on the process of localization, UCLG is also particularly interested in collecting relevant 'stories', practices, experiences and initiatives that may illustrate how localization is actually taking place, in terms of policy and concrete measures: the survey, accordingly, included a dedicated section for the description of relevant initiatives and cases, worth analytical attention within the process leading to the HLPF.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at gold@uclg.org should you need any specific information or assistance in order to fill the survey in.

We look forward to receiving your feedback: your responses can provide us with unique insight on what local and regional government in all regions have been doing in order to localize the SDGs.

We do need your support, advice and inputs to provide local and regional governments with their rightful place in this global conversation.

Once you have filled the survey in, please send it to gold@uclg.org. You can also access and download last year's report to the HLPF at here.

Thank you in advance for your kind support. We look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

The UCLG World Secretariat
